Research Scientist Opening at KAUST

The IVUL group (ivul.kaust.edu.sa) at KAUST (King Abdullah University of Science and Technology) is looking for a top research scientist with expertise in computer vision and machine/deep learning. The researcher will work at KAUST to innovate, develop, and evaluate methods as well as mentor other projects in the following research themes topics: video understanding (e.g. activity detection, retrieval, and object tracking), computer vision for automation (especially using simulation), and tools/fundamentals of deep/machine learning (e.g. structured optimization, robustness and sensitivity, training strategies, and general theory)The scope of the advertised position includes:
  • publishing high impact work in top-tier conferences and journals in order to build a substantial resume and strong international collaborations
  • engaging with researchers in related fields
  • mentoring and collaborating with KAUST postdocs, grad students, and visiting students/researchers
  • excellent total compensation, including accommodation, family health benefits, moving expenses, and a substantial tax-free annual salary
  • living in a vibrant, multi-cultural campus town on the Red Sea

  • a PhD degree with excellent academic credentials
  • 3+ years of research experience (after PhD) in computer vision and machine/deep learning demonstrated by high quality publications
